This business is constantly changing, yet the way we do things here has remained constant over the years. After 44 years in sales I think that people are looking for someone to meet their wants and needs. I try every day to do this with the kind of service you just can't find in Washington any more.

After Hours Tuxedo is a family-owned tuxedo rental and sales business serving the Washington, DC area and has been at the same location in Arlington, Virginia for over 75 years. As a small business, we take pride in our friendly, personal, and detail-oriented service. We have a wide selection of tuxedos in stock and can special order hundreds of styles for purchase or rental from our distributor’s collections.
History
In 1939 Max Mager, a tailor from Eastern Europe and then the sweat shops of New York City came to Arlington, Virginia. He set up a tailor shop specializing in handmade suits. He named the establishment Square Deal Tailors, a name that can still be seen on the sign outside our shop.
Max and his wife Gussie, and their two children lived in an apartment above the shop. Max’s son Jerry, introduced tuxedos into the business in 1953. This established Arlington’s first tuxedo shop. After Hours Tuxedo became well know in Arlington and flourished. The business expanded to three locations in the early seventies, with other locations in Bethesda and Marlow Heights, Maryland.
Jerry Mager ran the store until his death in 1994. Jerry’s daughter Patti and son-in-law Harold purchased the store in 1994 and they currently operate the store today. The store still stands in its original building with the two apartments upstairs, where Max Mager originally lived.

Really helpful staff, they had everything ready to be tried on. The only thing a bit annoying was the return time had to be before 12pm. I traveled from the other corner of the country for a wedding and was pressed for time to get a good quality suit for two nights. I was fitted and finalized my rental in about one hour. Great place to get a tux in a hurry. I came in needing a head to toe formal with 3 hours before my event. Was fitted and out within 40 mins with a great outfit, including a modern tux with modern patent leather shoes. This shop is heads and shoulders above the mall and chain shops. My husband and I went to a couple Mens Warehouses and a few other tux/formal wear shops before coming to After Hours Tux for his wedding attire, and let me just say...save your time and go to After Hours Tux FIRST. We were overwhelmed by how helpful and kind the owner and staff are here. The selection of tuxes and suits to order is extensive and the service is phenomenal. We had an out of town wedding with groomsmen from all over the country and nobody had any problems sending in measurements or payments and we got exactly what we asked for. I can't tell you how much of a better experience it is to rent your Tuxedo here rather than Men's Warehouse or any other commercial store. There's usually only one person working and they will get you in and out with a great tux, in a no-sales-pressure, non-judgmental setting.
